Overview
GetLitty is a web application that helps music fans and event-goers find the most affordable concert trips by combining event data with nearby accommodation options. Instead of manually checking Ticketmaster, searching Airbnb, calculating distances, and tracking costs across multiple tabs, users can search once and instantly compare total trip costs across events.
The Problem We Solved
Planning concert travel is tedious and fragmented. Fans typically juggle multiple websites, spreadsheets, and manual calculations to answer one simple question: "Which show can I actually afford to attend?" GetLitty centralizes this entire workflow into a single interface with automatic cost calculations and distance filtering.
Key Features
- Smart Search & Filtering: Find events by name, date range, and proximity to affordable Airbnbs (1-200 mile radius)
- Cost-Optimized Results: Automatically calculates and sorts by total trip cost (accommodation + estimated travel)
- "Surprise Me" Discovery: Randomly suggests affordable events for spontaneous trip planning
- Trip Planning Dashboard: Save events, track accommodation status, and prevent double-booking conflicts
- Interactive Map: Visualizes event venues alongside the five closest Airbnb listings
- Bulk Event Management: Add multiple events from a city at once (perfect for music festivals)
Technical Implementation
Stack: Node.js, Express, MySQL, Google Cloud Platform, Leaflet.js
Database Architecture:
- Designed and normalized a relational schema integrating Ticketmaster event data (~1000+ records) with Chicago Airbnb listings
- Implemented foreign key constraints, composite keys for many-to-many relationships, and data integrity rules
Advanced Database Features:
- Stored Procedure: Encapsulated complex multi-table joins and aggregations for computing cheapest accommodations per event
